Michael Wolk has been a resident of South Whitehall Township for 31 years and of the Lehigh Valley for 44 years. He and his wife of 44 years raised three wonderful children – a son and twin daughters. He is an active member of the South Whitehall community and a parishioner at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Orefield.
Mike worked for 39 years for Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. as a Project, Product and Engineering Manager. He was a proven and well-respected leader who continually delivered customer satisfaction and profitability. He and his wife enjoyed a two-year international assignment in England and Holland. Their twin daughters were born in England.
Mike has both a technical and business education having earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology and Lehigh University and an MBA from Lehigh University.
Mike has spent his entire adult life volunteering and advocating for other people with special needs. He is dedicated to representing and assisting people who cannot represent themselves. He genuinely considers his volunteerism to be his “life’s calling”.
Mike founded and served as President of the PA Parents of Blind Children (1995-2001) whose mission is to “create a lifetime of security, equality, independence and opportunity for Pennsylvania blind and visually impaired children.” His leadership helped blind children receive an equal education so that they could grow to be successful adults. Today, his totally blind daughter has graduated from Notre Dame Law School summa cum laude and will start work in July 2019 as a U.S. Supreme Court Law Clerk for Justice Clarence Thomas.
Mike has been a faithful advocate and fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) since his 18-year old son passed away from leukemia in 2003.
He serves on the Eastern Pennsylvania LLS Advocacy Committee which advocates for blood cancer patients’ rights with federal and state legislators. He contributes to pediatric cancer research at major children's hospitals. He sponsors a Parkland High School scholarship awarded in his son’s memory to seniors who have been affected by a chronic or life threatening condition.
Mike served as the President of the local Grandlawn Baseball Association (1999-2003) and as President of the Parkland Baseball League (2002-2003) for the benefit of youth baseball players.
